ANTIQUE ROYAL DOULTON "FAMOUS SHIPS" HMS VICTORY D5957 DECORATIVE PLATE IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION!! Made in England This listing is for an exceptionally rare antique decorative collector plate featuring the HMS VICTORY and made by ROYAL DOULTON for their FAMOUS SHIPS series of bone china ware. The Victory was the flagship of Lord Horatio Nelson, widely considered one of the best naval commanders in history, during the Battle of Trafalgar. This series was produced between 1938 - 1958, with this particular example having been acquired by the original owner in England in the early 1940's. The plate measures approximately 10.5" in diameter, and weighs roughly 1 pound, 6 ounces. The hand painted details are crisp and vibrant, and belie the fact that this piece is at a minimum 80 YEARS OLD! Absolutely perfect for any maritime collector or antique ceramic enthusiast! Condition : Amazing condition with no cracks, chips, flea bites or repairs! Some crazing throughout, much more apparent on the back than the front, and to be expected due to the age of the piece. Plate displays extremely well and has exceptional eye appeal! Backstamp is clear and vibrant. There is what a small area of natural pitting in the bottom portion of the back of the plate (Pic #12), completely unseen when on display. This should be considered extremely minor and is mentioned only for the sake of providing an accurate description. Edges appear clean around the plate.
