ANTIQUE ROYAL DOULTON "FAMOUS SHIPS" HMS VICTORY D5957 QUARTREFOIL DISH IN OUTSTANDING CONDITION!! Made in England This listing is for an exceptionally rare antique quartrefoil dish featuring the HMS VICTORY and made by ROYAL DOULTON for their FAMOUS SHIPS series of bone china ware. The Victory was the flagship of Lord Horatio Nelson, widely considered one of the best naval commanders in history, during the Battle of Trafalgar. This series was produced between 1938 - 1958, with this particular example having been acquired by the original owner in England in the early 1940's. The tray measures approximately 11.5" side to side and 9.5" top to bottom, and weighs roughly 1 pound, 8 ounces. The hand painted details are crisp and vibrant, and belie the fact that this piece is at a minimum 80 YEARS OLD! Absolutely perfect for any maritime collector or antique ceramic enthusiast! Condition : Amazing condition with no cracks, chips, flea bites or repairs! Very minimal crazing throughout, which is very hard to see without very close inspection. Tray displays extremely well and has exceptional eye appeal! Backstamp is clear and vibrant. There is what appears to be a small "N" stamped into the plate under the glaze. Edges appear clean with only the most minimal wear in spots, which were too small to even photograph and may be able to be removed. As nice an overall example as you are likely to ever find!
