Description

This plate with a sumptuous matte gold rim was made by the prestigious Rosenthal China Company. Founded in 1874, Rosenthal is still in business today. The expensive china produced by Rosenthal is desirable, collectible and treasured by those who own it. Despite being over 100 years old (c.1891-1906) this plate is in "like new" condition with no flaws and the gold intact.. The decoration of delicious looking grapes and peaches is hand painted in a skillful watercolor style. China painting was one of the few ways female artists could earn money with their craft. I consider this lovely piece an homage to Women's Art. The plate measures 8-3/8" in diameter and is clearly signed on the back. Kronach refers to the town in Bavaria where the factory was located.
