Vintage Rosenthal China White Bone China Soup Plate with Gold Vine Garland Pattern Flanged Large Rim Soup Bowl This wide, shallow bowl with a flanged rim is called a soup plate as opposed to a soup bowl. The diameter is approximately 10 inches, the rim is 1 3/4 inches wide, the depth is 1/2 inch deep, and the well is 6 1/2 inches across and 1 3/4 inches in height. Each bowl weighs approximately a pound. A soup plate is the only soup bowl used in formal dinner service and this Rosenthal pattern is a formal pattern for certain. Nothing speaks of luxury more than Rosenthal’s fine vintage china dinnerware.
