Description

Here is a Royal Copenhagen Fish Service Gravy Boat with Attached Underplate number 3003. This is a spectacular, rare piece in very good condition. It is factory first quality, hand painted in Denmark in 1958 . This piece is part of the Royal Copenhagen Fish Service pattern (Blå Fiske stel), which has the blue fish-etched rims (underglaze painting and in low relief), with gilt gold decoration, and bright, overglaze fish depictions. The painting here is highly detailed. These skilled painters would have been at the same level as the Flora Danica painters. Here we have 'Fauna Danica' -- native to the waters of Denmark on both sides of the gravy boat, with lovely seaweed decorating the attached underplate. This piece was part of an opulent set that would have been specially ordered from Royal Copenhagen, consisting of plates and serving pieces for a fish-based meal. There are no cracks or chips, and no repairs to the gravy boat. No obvious scratching or damage to the overglaze painted fish. There is one spot with a small loss of gilt gold decoration on the edge of the attached underplate, shown in final 3 pictures. Discrete glaze irregularity on fish etched rim. These is an extremely delicate and special piece of porcelain, in very good condition. The gravy boat is approximately 10 1/4 inches long, 5 1/5 inches wide and 3 1/3 inches tall. Please examine the photos and reach out with any questions! Carefully packaged in non-smoking, no pets household, and shipped domestically with USPS Priority Mail.
