Description
This exquisite 12" Christmas plate by Versace is a true collector's item. It is entitled "Nativity" . It celebrates the birth of the baby Jesus sitting in the manger surrounded by angels. The style is Baroque, the colors are intense and the design is very detailed. The opulence is created by the stunning 22 carat gold embellishments that add a touch of elegance. The plate was made by Rosenthal in 1997, the highly successful German porcelain manufacturing company founded in 1879, in Erkersreuth, Germany. This is one of the plates in the four-part collector's edition, "Christmas with Versace". The other plates are "The Angel Gabriel" (1995), "King Balthasar" (1996), and "Cortege de Noel" (1998). This collection is a limited edition of 15,000. I have 2 of these plates available. On the underside of the plate is a poem repeated around the edge written in German, English, French and Italian languages: Lift we now our hearts and voices, join we all the cheerfull day, learned by shepherds from the Angels. Glory be to God on high! "Glory, glory in the highest, unto God and peace on Earth, to all nations joyful bring we tidings glad of Jesus' birth."
