ROSENTHAL KUNSTLER-TELLER 1978 VICTOR VASARELY LIMITED EDITION PORCELAIN WALL PLAQUE “LIVE AND LET LIVE – LOVE AND LET LOVE” Victor Vasarely (1906-1997) was a Hungarian-French artist who is widely accepted as a "grandfather" and leader of the Op art movement. This wall hanging porcelain plate was commissioned by Rosenthal as their annual artist plate and issued as a limited edition of 5000 pieces in 1978. The piece offered here is numbered 307/5000. It is 10 1/4 inches across and is ready to hang using its integrated hanger. The original presentation box is included. Vasarely’s original 1936 image “Leben und leben lassen – Lieben und lieben lassen” (“Live and let Live – Love and let Love”), even when issued by Rosenthal in 1978, was considered daring by many.
