Description

Own a piece of a dying art. The art of tole painting. Typically painting folk art, or in this case fruit, on household items from the kitchen, furniture etc. You’ll see it a long on hope chests, jewelry boxes and kitchen items such as metal jugs - and plates. This is a beautiful depiction of purple plums on a porcelain cutting board done by Nancy “Nani” Gaffney (1930-2021). I found a beautiful piece written by one of her children after her death and one her her lives after she retired was tole painting with her husband. This piece still has stories to tell and would look beautiful hanging in your home. Measures 8 .25” long and 4 3/8” wide. No chips or cracks. There is a small scratch with paint loss - see last photo. There is also a spot where she missed with the glaze (photo 11) and a couple of small bumps which is covered in paint so appear to be original in the cutting board cast - photo 10 & 12.
