Up for sale wonderful 1950/60 Venetian glass fish sculpture, made on the island of Murano, near Venice, Italy. In a stunning combination of royal blue, and opal white glass encased in clear glass, using the renowned Venetian Sommerso technique from hand-blown glass with a polished base. Delicate work, made using the complex technique of submerged glass in layers: the master glassmaker, removed a small amount of glass with the blowpipe, then immersed it in a crucible full of molten glass of different colors, to obtain a complete coating of the inner core. The operation is repeated several times until additional details and overlapping glazes of color are obtained. In mint condition, without cracks, nicks, or knocks.
